Margaret Mahy Trip

On Friday we visited the Peterborough Library to hear about Margaret Mahy. We learnt that she was a librarian that wrote stories at night to entertain her children, we were able to listen to her stories and walk around the library and learn what librarians do. Then we got to read books from the junior section of the library. After we went to the Margaret Mahy Playground for lunch and to play. It was lots of fun and we all came home exhausted!!

Our Current Learning Focuses

Maths - We are learning to identify groupings to ten and twenty.

On Fridays we are learning about shape - 2D and 3D

Reading - We are learning to self monitor our reading (to make sure we understand everything we read) and to retell the story with detail

Writing - we are learning to write a procedure (instructions)

Oral Language - We are learning to show we are listening to the speaker with body language

Phonics - We are learning to link letters to their sounds, identify short and long sounds for vowels.

Handwriting - We are learning to form letters correctly.

RE - We are learning to recognise the Communion of Saints
